The West Virginia Chapter invites you to join us in Wheeling at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center for the 2008 Southern Division Spring Meeting, February 28-March 2, 2008. The meeting’s theme is “Headwater Streams to Large Rivers”. We have well over 100 abstracts submitted, 3 symposia, and 7 workshops scheduled.

The Awards Committee is accepting nominations for four Southern Division Awards: Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding Achievement Award, Best Chapter and Outstanding Subunit. Nominations will be accepted until January 7, 2008.

Minutes of the 2007 SDAFS EXCOM Meeting in Memphis, TN, the 2007 SDAFS Annual business Meeting in Memphis, TN, and the 2007 SDAFS EXCOM Meeting at the SEAFWA in Charleston, WV are now available online.

The SDAFS Bylaws have recently been revised. Click here to view or download the updated bylaws. The revisions were approved at the Spring Meeting in Memphis.

The Tennessee Chapter hosted the 2007 Southern Division Spring Meeting, 7-11 February 2007, in Memphis. The meeting’s theme was “Diversity of Fish, Habitats, and People”. For more information, visit the meeting website.

The January 2007 Directory of Hatcheries located within the Southern Division has been developed by the Aquaculture Technical Committee.

The Southern Division took a leading role in relief efforts for AFS members in the Gulf Coast region impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. A Disaster Relief Home Page has been developed to bring together those affected and those looking to help.

The Aquaculture Committee has developed a draft BMP Plan for fish hatcheries to address new NPDES rules promulgated by the USEPA. Click here to download it now.
