The SDAFS election results are final and certified. There were a total of 293 electronic votes cast for vice-president. The winner is:

Abstracts are now being accepted for the 2010 Spring Meeting in Asheville, NC. The abstract submission engine is operational and abstracts can be submitted here. The deadline is December 1, 2009.  Additional formatting instructions for abstracts are located on the 2010 Presentation Instructions page. If you are a student and wish to be considered for the Best Student Paper Award, you must check "Yes" on the category labeled " Student Paper Competition". 

VTAFS is hosting the Student Colloquium this year. The meeting will be held October 16-18 on Virginia Tech’s campus in Blacksburg. See Announcement.

The Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society has a limited number of complimentary student rooms available for the 2009 Southeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Meeting (November 1st – 4th) at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta. Rooms are available for 3 nights (November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd). If students are interested in taking advantage of these rooms, please contact John Jackson, the Chair of the Student Affairs Committee. These rooms will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Call for Reviewers. The upcoming 63rd annual conference of the Southeastern Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA) on November 1 – 4, 2009, in Atlanta, GA needs volunteers to review submitted manuscripts. This is a great opportunity for you, your graduate students, or your fisheries staff members to get a foot in the door as a journal referee. www.seafwa2009.org

The TTU Student Fisheries Association and the SDAFS Student Affair Committee are requesting proposals to host the 2009 SDAFS Student Colloquium. Application Deadline January 2. Guidelines and Application.

The SDAFS Procedural Manual has recently been revised. Click here to view or download the updated version. The revisions were approved at the Spring Meeting in Memphis.

The Resolutions Committee has developed two new resolutions for member consideration. Click here to review resolutions concerning the Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership (SARP) and Instream Flow Programs.

The January 2007 Directory of Hatcheries located within the Southern Division has been developed by the Aquaculture Technical Committee.

The Aquaculture Committee has developed a draft BMP Plan for fish hatcheries to address new NPDES rules promulgated by the USEPA. Click here to download it now.
