The podcasts from the 2012 SDAFS Spring Meeting in Biloxi are available for viewing on the Spring meeting pod cast page. There are 152 podcasts published but please be advised that there are presentations that are not viewable, Some were requested by authors not to be published. Others are unavailable because of “technical difficulties” (unplugged mikes, underperforming laptops and operator errors). You will be required to have downloaded and installed either Adobe Flash Player or Adobe ShockWave Player (a link is available on the site for ShockWave) on your computer to view these presentations.

Minutes from the 2011 SDAFS EXCOM and Business Meetings held in Tampa, Florida are now available for review.

First call for submissions for the SDAFS Winter newsletter.  Chapters, committees, and individuals are encouraged to submit articles pertaining (but not limited) to the following: -Upcoming chapter meetings -Chapter news and events -Recognition of members -Interesting news within your region .  Please submit articles to Shannon White at swhite8@vt.edu by December 23, 2011 in Microsoft Word format.

Final call for abstracts and early registration for the 2012 Spring Meeting of the SDAFS Jan 26-29 in Biloxi, MS.  Information regarding abstract and registration guidelines and procedures, completing necessary forms, and uploading files can be found by visiting the meeting webpage (http://www.sdafs.org/meetings/2012/default.htm) and clicking on the “Registration” or “Submit Abstracts” link, respectively.  Both abstract submission and the early bird registration ($85 Students, $110 Professionals) will end Dec. 5th at midnight.  Abstracts will no longer be accepted after that point and the registration fee will automatically increase to $100 for students and $165 for professionals beginning Dec. 6th.   

Student Rooms at the 2011 SEAFWA Meeting - SDAFS has a limited number of complimentary student rooms available for the 2011 Southeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Meeting (October 22nd – 26th) at the Sheraton Music City, Nashville, Tennessee. Rooms are available for 3 nights (October 23rd, 24th, and 25th). If students are interested in taking advantage of these rooms, please contact John Jackson, the Chair of the Student Affairs Committee. These rooms will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Please send John your name, complete mailing address, email address, phone number, and gender (so that appropriate room assignments can be organized). Contact: John Jackson at jjackson@atu.edu.

The resolutions committee has proposed a resolution on federal funding of aquatic nuisance species programs. Comments are requested and are due by September 1, 2011. Send all comments to Dennis Riecke, dennisr@mdwfp.state.ms.us. More information can be found on the Resolutions Page.

Pod Casts from the 2011 SDAFS Spring Meeting in Tampa, FL are now available on-line. They can be viewed on the Spring meeting pod cast page. Note: To view these presentations you must have downloaded and installed Adobe ShockWave Player (there is an Adobe download button on the site) and you must be using Windows Internet Explorer browser (either for Windows or Mac OS operating systems). You must also enable ActiveX on your IE browser.

The Warmwater Streams committee has just released a video entitled Warmwater Streams:
A Resource Worth Protecting.
This video portrays the wealth of warmwater stream values in the Southeast, from prehistory to present day. It can be viewed here.

The January 2007 Directory of Hatcheries located within the Southern Division has been developed by the Aquaculture Technical Committee.

The Aquaculture Committee has developed a draft BMP Plan for fish hatcheries to address new NPDES rules promulgated by the USEPA. Click here to download it now.
