Committees

Activities and Fundraising: 

Activities - Plans, organizes, and administers all Chapter activities including (but not limited to) public and continuing education programs, National Hunting & Fishing Day, recreation at the annual Chapter meeting, kid=s fishing clinics, and production of Chapter T-shirts and caps.  Works closely with the Program Committee in planning and scheduling events at the annual Chapter meeting. 

Fundraising - Plans, organizes and administers all aspects of fund raising activities including an auction at the Annual Chapter meeting. Schedules fund raising activities in coordination with the Program Committee. Administers collection of all auction items, conducts such auctions, coordinates collection of funds with the Secretary/Treasurer, and sends letters to donors thanking them for their donations.

Continuing Education:

Works to provide workshops on topics of interest to the Chapter membership.  The Committee polls the membership periodically to determine continuing education needs. Contacts appropriate individuals that can provide instruction, prepares a budget of expected workshop expenses that is submitted to the ExCom. Coordinates with the Program Committee to provide such workshops in conjunction with the Annual meeting. All continuing education activities should be submitted to the Parent Society office for approval as Continuing Education credits towards AFS Certification requirements.

Environmental Concerns: 

Develops position statements, advisories, and resolutions representing the Chapter’s opinions, recommendations, and advise regarding environmental issues of concern to the Chapter.  Solicits issues for consideration from the membership, maintains a constant vigil for new issues of concern, and monitors comment-period schedules to insure that no deadlines pass without the Chapter’s comment.  Responds to requests for information on environmental issues and concerns from the Parent Society, and sub-units, or non-Society entities as directed by the Chapter President.

 Awards:

Composed of at least three members, each representing a different agency, company, university, or other entity.  Nominates two candidates for each office for the offices of Secretary-Treasurer (every other year) and President-Elect (every year).  Insures that all nominees are AFS Parent Society members and are willing and able to serve competently if elected.  Adpaghepheries Worker Award criteria, solicits and evaluates nominations, selects recipient, acquires plaque, and presents the award at the annual Chapter meeting.  Develops and administers other awards as desired by the Chapter.
