The Arkansas Chapter of the American Fisheries Society
Arkansas Chapter was formed in 1987 to serve fisheries professionals in the state of Arkansas.
The goals of the Chapter are to:
- Promote the wise management, conservation, and use of the fishery and aquatic resources of Arkansas.
- Facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information among fisheries and aquatic professionals throughout all fields within the discipline (i.e. management, culture, research, academia, administrative) in the state of Arkansas.
- Increase the public's awareness of Arkansas' aquatic and fisheries resources and expand their participation in fisheries and related projects and issues, including habitat maintenance and improvement work, protection of sensitive areas/resources, and the promotion of wise management of all of Arkansas' aquatic resources.
- Assist in the implementation and attainment of AFS parent society goals and objectives.

2013 National AFS Meeting
2012 Arkansas Chapter AFS meeting – February 8-10, 2012, Conway, AR
The Arkansas chapter of AFS would like to announce the annual meeting to be held at the Faulkner County Natural Resources Center, the building that houses the local US Fish and Wildlife Service Offices, in Conway, AR. This year’s meeting features technical presentations, a business meeting, a raffle and two social events. We look forward to seeing you there.

2012 Southern Division Spring Meeting - January 26-29, 2012
The Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society would like to announce the FIRST CALL FOR CONTRIBUTED PAPERS for the 2012 Spring Meeting, co-hosted by the Mississippi Chapter. Details regarding accommodations, reservations, registration, workshops, symposia, abstract submission, call for papers and student information are available at http://www.sdafs.org/meetings/2012/default.htm. This 20th annual meeting will be held at the IP Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS, January 26-29, 2012 and promises to once again be an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and presentation of research papers.
