2005 Spring Meeting

Spring 2005 American Fisheries Society - Fisheries Administration Section Meeting

A block of rooms has been reserved under American Fisheries Society for the meeting @ $79.00 per night – single, double, triple or quad occupancy. Rooms have been reserved Thursday May 18 – Sunday, May 22. Please call 1-800-444-2326 to make your room reservations. The block of rooms will be held until April 19th, after that date, rooms may be reserved on a “space available basis” (it is unlikely there will be difficulty getting rooms). There is a complimentary airport shuttle available to Adams Mark from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF).

The FAS meeting will be Saturday, May 21st and Sunday, May 22nd (morning only). Please see current agenda.

Meeting registration is $75.00 and includes all breaks and lunch on Saturday (registration form).


For those interested in fishing, we have several opportunities lined up:

Friday, May 20th

  • Lake Erie – smallmouth bass
  • Niagara River – trout (primarily steelhead)
  • Inland trout stream(s)
  • Lake Ontario trout/ salmon (afternoon only)

Sunday, May 22nd

  • Lake Ontario trout/ salmon (afternoon only)
  • Inland trout streams

The Lake Ontario trout/ salmon fishing opportunities will be ½ day, afternoon trips. Participation in the other trips will be full-day trips.

Please let me know ASAP your interest in and preference for any fishing opportunities.


Other potential outings:

  • The Anchor Bar – Home of the Original Buffalo Chicken Wings!
  • The Buffalo Bisons (AAA affiliate of Cleveland Indians) will be in town during the time of the FAS meeting. If interested in attending a game, please let me know.
  • Niagara Falls – if you have never seen the Falls, and if there is sufficient interest, we will try to schedule a group trip.
