19th Annual Meeting

Florida Chapter of the American Fisheries Society
1999 Call for Papers & Meeting Announcement
9 March to 11 March, 1999
Withlacoochee Training Center
Brooksville, Florida

The Florida Chapter of the American Fisheries Society would like to have national and state participation in a symposium to discuss the economic importance of fisheries, and how marketing and education can help improve participation in recreational fishing and enhance stewardship of aquatic resources.

In addition to invited speakers, who will ensure that we cover both freshwater and marine resources from a variety of perspectives (e.g., agency, industry, and university), we are looking for contributed papers and posters, which may compliment the symposium or relate to any topic in fisheries and fish biology/ecology. The contributed paper session will complement the symposia focus of economics, marketing and education, but also continue previous meeting format in encouraging papers on traditional fish/fisheries topics. Please plan to participate and attend. Papers will be 15-minutes long, preferably with slides, and have an additional 5-minutes for introductions and questions. Posters will be approximately 3' x 4'.

The 19th Annual Meeting of the Florida Chapter American Fisheries Society will occur 9-11 March 1999, at the Withlacoochee Training Center, Brooksville, Florida. Please send abstracts to Bob Wattendorf, President Elect Florida Chapter AFS, if you need more information. He can be reached at the Florida Game & Fresh Water Fish Commission, 620 South Meridian Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399; phone: 850/488-0520; fax: 850/413-0381; email: watt@mail-me.com.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is 10 January 1999.
