The Arkansas Chapter and Southern Division are presenting workshops on Friday, February 22, 2002. These workshops should be of particular interest to Certified Fisheries Scientists since they count for Professional Quality Development Points (PDQP). 
 
FAST Workshop
Instructor: Mike Maceina Attendance: limited to 25 people
Hours: 8am to 5pm Cost: $85.00
Each attendee should bring a laptop computer or arrange to share one with another attendee. A hardcopy of the manual and the newest version of the software will be provided, as well as copies of technical papers regarding the software.
 
WET/WILD Certification Workshop
Instructor: Rob Beadel Attendance: limited to 35 people
Hours: 8am to 5pm Cost: $10.00
Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is a nationwide curriculum based program for professional and nonprofessional teachers. Activities incorporate a variety of formats including group learning, lab investigations global topics and community service. Project WILD (Wildlife in Learning Design) assists learners in developing awareness, knowledge, skills and commitment concerning wildlife and the environment. Participants will receive
certification in Projects WET and WILD through attending this workshop.
 
Student Workshop
Attendance: open
Hours: 1:15pm to 5pm Cost: Free
Fisheries professional’s will discuss their perspectives on how students can rise above the competition to obtain jobs or graduate school assistantships.
 
American Fisheries Society Leadership Training Workshop
Attendance: open
Hours: 1:15pm to 5pm Cost: Free
Leadership Workshop - The AFS parent society has developed am implemented training session for AFS leadership. The training addresses AFS structure and procedures, Roberts' Rules of Order, resources available to potential leaders, and other topics.
 
Fish Contaminants Workshop

Hours: 8am to noon Cost: $50.00
This workshop is sponsored by the Warmwater Streams Committee.
 
Crayfish Workshop
Instructor: Bob DiStefano, MO Dept. Consv. Attendance: limited to 35 people
Hours: 8am to 11:45 am Cost: $10.00
A general introduction to crayfish for fish biologists, including diversity, habitats, ecology, general anatomy, main ID characters, etc. After lunch, the room will be available for general discussion, and a few dissecting scopes will be set up for looking at specimens. Feel free to bring your own specimens for viewing.
 
Aquatic Toxicology Workshop
Instructor: Jerry Farris, Arkansas State Univ. Attendance: limited to 35 people

Largemouth Bass Virus Workshop
