Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

12–16 February 2004

STUDENT COLLOQUIUM
SOUTHERN DIVISION, AMERICAN FISHERIES SOCIETY

Lessons Learned
Career Experiences of Natural Resource Professionals

Why do some natural resource professionals get more done than others?

What are the hard parts of a career that you might encounter?

How do you know when an opportunity for positive management change is possible?

This colloquium is a one-hour workshop to explore these kinds of questions. Based on interviews for a forthcoming book, the career experiences of distinguished professionals are combined with audience participation to explore the dilemmas and opportunities natural resource professionals routinely encounter during their careers. We will conclude with a discussion on prescriptive advice for improving a professional's management effectiveness.
