Symposia for the 2007 Southern Division Midyear Technical Meeting

SYMPOSIUM TITLE:  Imperiled Species Ecology and Management
CONTACT PERSON: Dr. Hayden Mattingly
Tennessee Tech University
931-372-6410
hmattingly@tntech.edu
The southeast U.S. has more than its fair share of imperiled aquatic species in need of management and conservation.  Case histories will be presented in this symposium, as well as papers on imperiled species ecology that emphasize how such information can be used to protect, restore, or enhance such populations.

SYMPOSIUM TITLE: Stream and River Mitigation Programs and Case Studies
CONTACT PERSON: Frank Fiss
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency
615-781-6519
frank.fiss@state.tn.us
The goal of this symposium is to provide an overview of current mitigation programs for streams and rivers, including invited papers on FERC relicensing, mitigation for US Army Corps of Engineer projects, and state-authorized stream mitigation programs.  Biologists from at least three states will be contributing papers on their experience with relatively new stream mitigation banks, which fund stream restorations.  Contributed case studies on all scales are welcome.
