An overview of Florida's water management legislation and rules will be presented. The current status of instream flow evaluation techniques and projects will be reviewed, some of which are being utilized in other states. Emphasis will be give to the St. John's River Water management Districts"s Minimum Flows and Levels Project Plan and the Wekiva River System Instream Flow Project. These flow recommendations are especially relevant to large, low-gradient floodplain rivers in the Southeastern United States.
