2012 Annual Meeting

Meeting Program

This year’s annual meeting will be Tuesday evening 2/7/2012 – Thursday afternoon 2/9/2012 at the Quality Inn at 2515 West 6th Avenue (Route 51) in Stillwater.  Please call the hotel at 405-372-0800 and let them know you are with the AFS meeting when you make your reservation (we must fill our block of rooms to get the conference rate on the meeting rooms and you cannot book rooms in our block using the web site).  Advanced registration will be available on-line (see http://nrem.okstate.edu/shouplab/okafs2012).  Advanced registration ends 1/20/2012 and your registration cost will be higher after that date.

To submit an abstract for a 20-minute oral presentation (including time for a brief question/answer session), please email the following to Dan Shoup at dshoup@okstate.edu:

  • Title of paper.

  • Name of Authors with an asterisk (*) following the presenting author’s name.

  • Affiliation of authors (Agency, School, etc.) including address.

  • A brief abstract of no more than 250 words.

  • Use “OKAFS abstract submission” as the subject line of your email.

Abstracts are due by 1/20/2012.

The tentative schedule for this year will be a social in the evening of 2/7; research presentations during the day 2/8, business meeting and banquet meal (and completion of silent auction) that evening followed by a second social; and a workshop on 2/9 (may add some talks in the morning if we have more submissions than we can fit on 2/8).

This year’s workshop will cover common issues in fish disease and fish health and will be held on 2/9/2012.  It will cover issues from the prospective of both hatchery work/captive fish and natural populations in the field.  The workshop is being led by two faculty members from the OSU Veterinary Medicine College that specialize in zoo and wild animal medicine.
