Bill Fisher

 

Dr. Fisher is an Assistant Unit Leader at the Oklahoma Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology. He conducts research, teaches graduate courses, and directs graduate and undergraduate students in stream and river ecology and fisheries biology. He received his B.A. from the University of Louisville (1976), M.A. from DePauw University (1979), and Ph.D. from University of Louisville (1987). Over the past 20 years, Dr. Fisher has held a variety of professional positions in fisheries and aquatic biology with state and federal agencies, including: Stream Ecologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Ecology Research Center at Auburn University, Aquatic Biologist with the Kentucky Nature Preserves Commission, and Water Quality Biologist with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Bill has been a member of AFS since 1981 and has been actively involved in society activities. He was President of the Southern Division of AFS, Associate Editor of Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, Science Editor for Fisheries and is co-editor of a book for AFS entitled GIS in Fisheries. He brings valuable experience to the Student Subunit.



Dr. Daniel E. Shoup - Faculty Co-Advisor

Daniel Shoup

 

Dr. Daniel Shoup is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology. He received his Ph.D. from Kent State University (2001). Dr. Shoup came to OSU from Eastern Illinois University. His research focuses on the role of predation risk, competition, and abiotic factors in structuring foodwebs in aquatic systems.  In addressing these issues, he uses basic ecological theory as a framework for addressing contemporary issues in fish management and aquatic ecology, using both laboratory and field experiments.
