Peer reviewers need for SEAFWA Proceedings. Once again we are preparing the fisheries session of the annual conference of the Southeastern Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA).   Each year, SEAFWA publishes the proceedings of papers presented at their annual meeting. The journal manuscripts must undergo peer review (three reviewers per paper) to determine if they are acceptable for publication and suggest revision for improvement. Get more details.

Applications are being accepted for the 2007 John E. Skinner Memorial Fund Award. The fund provides monetary travel awards for deserving graduate students or exceptional undergraduate students to attend the American Fisheries Society (AFS) annual meeting. The 2007 meeting will be held in San Francisco, California from September 2 to 6.

SDAFS Leadership Training will be held at the Spring meeting in Memphis.  The Leadership Training will be held on Thursday Feb 8 from 5 to 7 PM.  We will have pizza and beer as an enticement for you to attend!

Data Managers from across the country (marine and freshwater) will come together October 31-November 2, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah to participate in National Fisheries Data Summit II - Focusing on Applications to the National Fish Habitat initiative. The products of the Summit will directly impact the progress of the National Fish Habitat Initiative (NFHI).

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a Fish and Aquatic Species Barrier Assessment Workshop on November 15 and 16, 2006 at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, North Carolina. Get the details.

Current activities of the SDAFS Disaster Relief Team summarized by President Bob Curry.

SDAFS Leadership:

This reminder will provide you with the reporting format necessary for your first report.

  1. Your reports are due to me NO LATER THAN Wednesday, August 9.
  2. Note that my SDAFS report to the AFS Governing Board is due August 11, 2006.  That’s as much time as I can allow.
  3. This synopsis should cover Chapter/Unit/Committee activities to date since the SDAFS Spring Meeting in Texas.
  4. Attached is a document summarizing the guidelines provided to me from the Governing Board.  We will use these guidelines for both the parent Society Governing Board reports as well as the SDAFS Briefing Book reports.
  5. I used these guidelines to develop the attached document titled: SDAFS 2006 Annual GB Report Format.
  6. If you have not yet forwarded me your summary, please use this format.
  7. If you have already submitted your summary, I will reformat your document to fit this one.
