Attention Students Are you aware of the Student Subsection in the American Fisheries Society? It is under the Education Section of the AFS. It is a group run by students for students. The Subsection has done some great things since its inception in 1991. We created a book, "An AFS Guide to Fisheries Employment", had symposiums at annual meetings (last year's was Enhancing Graduate Education), and are in charge of the Student's Angle page in Fisheries! It is a great organization that can only improve with your input. Getting involved is easy. Just send $5.00 to Trish Milburn at the AFS office (5410 Grosvenor Lane, Suite 110, Bethesda, MD 20814-2199) and tell her you want to join the Education Section. As a student, you are automatically a member of the Student Subsection. Getting involved can mean simply joining and supporting the causes of the Student Subsection, or become active in shaping the Subsection by running for office or Division Representative. You can also write a Student's Angle for Fisheries if you like.
