SAMCALC is a computer program that can help fish culturists with calculations for fish transport, chemical treatments, weight-length relations, injections, and oxygen solubility. The program also has several statistical modules, including a contingency table, analysis of variance, and experimental design.

  FishBC
FishBC is the newest edition to the software offerings, providing many of the same features in a Windows-based program that were provided in the older DOS-based DisBcalc. This software package computes back-calculated lengths using the traditional Lee method, with the option of performing a regression analysis over the data. Input data can be entered via an Excel spreadsheet, or manually entered with a keyboard, or digitizer. Output tables are created in Excel. System requirements are a PC with Windows 95 or higher, and Excel 95 or higher.

Back-Calculation Tables include:

  • Individual back-calculated lengths
  • Length at capture
  • Average back-calculated lengths for each age class
  • Standard error of average back-calculated lengths for each age class
  • Average annuli increments of back-calculated lengths for each age class
  • Standard error of average annual increments of back-calculated lengths for each age class
  • Average length increments until capture during (year) (season)
  • Average annular increments of bony parts
  • Standard deviation of bony part increment
  • Individual length at last annulus
  • Length at last annulus analysis

Regression Tables Include:

  • Body (Y) Scale (X) regression
  • ANOVA
  • Geometric mean functional regression

The program is available for $40.
