The Fish Stocks at Risk Committee of the Texas Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is charged with providing insight and guidance on fishes that are not yet, but may soon become endangered. In 1995 we presented information on nine species or subspecies (the sturgeon population in the Rio Grande, west Mexican redhorse, the Rio Grande population of blue catfish, Texas bluegill, largemouth bass subspecies in Texas and Guadalupe bass) that we considered in peril. An update on their status as well as other problem areas will be discussed.
