Saugeye Production on a Warmwater Fish Hatchery
in Oklahoma

During the past two seasons, 1995 and 1996, a research project has been conducted evaluating staging filling as a pond production method for saugeye. This season nine ponds were used, four control (pond full at stocking) and a treatment (pond full at two weeks post stocking). The controls and treatments were divided between an early stocking (May 2) and late stocking (May 10). In comparing the results between the control and treatment of the early and late stocking there appears to be no difference in the returns. The greater percentage return was in the control group.
